(Pre)Destined to Choose: Presidential Election 2008

Since many of you will be eligible to vote in the 2008 Presidential election, I thought it would be fun and illuminating to offer the following post.

Here's a link to a USA Today candidate quiz that is designed, apparently, to help match you to a candidate that most corresponds to your political views--regarding the issues about which the quiz queries.

What questions, in your opinion, are missing from the quiz? What questions do you think the quiz should have asked? What questions are most important to you in terms of your choice of a Presidential candidate? Why?

Feel free to post your results in the comments section. As you've come to expect, my quiz results will remain a mystery but of course I am always open to guesses as to how I scored.

Either way we'll discuss tomorrow.

I don't really know where any of those candidates stand on the issues, I do know that I won't vote for any of them. And given that I live in a republican state, my vote probably won't matter anyway due to the electoral college. The media has been very informative in that it has told me that Barak Obama is black, John Edwards gets 400 dollar haircuts, and Rudy Guiliani loves America.

My results, too, will remain a mystery, but I will say that I found the quiz to be very...political. It should've asked me whether I would vote for a woman and if so, whether that woman could be a man who dresses as a woman or a woman that wasn't a woman but was a black man. Also, regarding the question about what I think the candidate should have had experience as before running for president, I firmly believe district attorney on Law and Order should have been a choice. In all seriousness, it gave me John McCain as number one, but I think it sensed that I like old people. And I thought the questions were good, but I must admit that I have no idea which candidate supports which viewpoint on each issue and that's a shame. I don't like any of the candidates particularly, but we can all find comfort in the fact that Noah McCullough will soon be able to assume his role as ruler of the world.

Surprisingly Mitt Romney appeared on my results list. That's a scary thought. Hopefully Prophet Sharpton is right...

I think the quiz should ask you how you feel about a canidate's gender and religion. I thought the questions on the Iraq war were the most important because it is an important topic that effects America's safety.

i thought the quiz was interesting. i really enjoyed it. it would have been nice to see some questions regarding science or medicine such as aborition or stem cell research. the quiz is a good spring board to know who to start paying closer attention to.

I honestly do not know what to say about these candidates. I did not think i would get all three as democrats because i do not consider myself fully democrat. i dont think these canditates would have appeared if the quiz had been more extensive and offered more questions about current events, backround, experience, etc. I think the quiz was as basic as possible and merely touched the surface of the issues that count when considering presidential candidates.

....I think my list is wrong....I think everyone's right when they say that they should have asked the whole gender and religion question. Also, it should be longer. 11 questions? That's not enough to know anybody let alone a presidential candidate...

Ok, the new, acceptable results:

1. Obama
2. Brownback
3. Thompson

I know very little about these candidates and don't really have set opinions on certain topics, such as health care. The quiz did seem brief and could have covered additional issues.
